How to use TweetDeck on your mini-notebook

Twitter_birdI find it much easier to handle the loads of information on Twitter with TweetDeck as it offers better functionality. However, I thought TweetDeck was not suitable for a mini-notebook until I saw my friend using it. My mini-notebook is my travel companion, and I simply carry it in my shoulder bag and take it everywhere. I have recently installed TweetDeck in my new mini-notebook and I am happy it works fine. Here’s how you can use it on your mini-notebook.

With TweetDeck, you can view your feed, replies, and searches in a single window. TweetDeck has three columns side by side. The first displays latest tweets from your friends, the second displays your replies and the third displays direct messages sent to your account. You can also sort your contacts into groups so that it is easy to manage. I have set up different groups for my friends and colleagues.

You can download TweetDeck from http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/. Clicking the ‘Download now’ option will display the message that this application requires Adobe AIR, which will also be downloaded and installed. Press ‘Yes’ to continue.

After Adobe AIR is installed, a new window opens to confirm if you are ready to install TweetDeck. Clicking ‘Install’ will continue the installation.

The next step will let you choose your preferences and also choose a location for installation.

The next step will ask you to accept the terms of agreement. Clicking ‘I Agree’ will take you to the next step.

TweetDeck is now installed in your mini-notebook. Open the application and type in your Twitter password, and the black panel of TweetDeck will open on your screen.

Now you no longer have to comprise on the functionality of TweetDeck even while you are travelling. However, due to the small size of the screen, you may have to scroll a bit.

Whether I am at the nearby coffee shop or beside the swimming pool at a resort watching my kids swim, I still can get the most out of Twitter with TweetDeck on this little device.
