Track Twitter with ease
Written by Roshi
Twitter is more than just a social networking site now; it is your ultimate guide to news updates from all over the world. Twitter is changing the face of media and is becoming the central repository of news and information on a variety of topics. Twitter is one of my favorite sources for research and here is how I follow conversations on Twitter and other social networking websites from my Samsung NC20 with ease.
Tinker is a micro blogging site similar to Twitter, but also serves as a search engine to find the latest top stories from Twitter. It allows users to search and follow the top stories, streams, topics and users on the site. You can not only discover, but also join the top news stories and streams on Twitter and Facebook directly from Tinker. Tinker was launched in February, 2009 and serves as a professional micro blogging website for journalists, writers, bloggers and many others.
You can follow the streams and the top stories without registration, but to view your Twitter profile, you need to sign up with Tinker. Signing up is simple, enter your name, email id, password and Twitter profile details. Once signed in, Tinker will allow you to choose the different streams and events to follow. This includes top movies, music, popular events and conferences. Tinker will automatically sync your Twitter profile information and tweets from the Twitter. You can also tweet from the Tinker interface apart from joining the latest news tweets.

Instead of following an individual or topic, you can follow all information about that person or topic on Tinker. This includes images, events, videos, latest tweets and people. For instance, I entered Paris Hilton in the search dialog box and got every single tweet about her from Twitter along with her images and videos, latest tweets about her, and even the Twitter accounts related to her.

Tinker can be browsed for the top news stories as well; the interface is split into categories such as Live, News, Events, Topics, Trends, and People. The Live tab will update you with the latest events, photos, videos and trends, while the News tab will feature the top story streams from all across the social web. The Events section will highlight the top events of the day and updates from the events you are following. Topics will include hot posts, top news, popular categories and many more updates of the day from Twitter. The People tab will help you find the top users on Twitter for different topics such as music, movie, fashion, technology, news and sale.

Tinker also has two extra categories such as Create and My Events. Users can create a stream on Tinker with the help of the create button and also follow the streams of other people, which is displayed in their My Events tab. This section will show your stream activity from Tinker and Twitter as well. Tinker also has a widget to embed on your website and blogs so that your tweets can be directly updated from your website.
Tinker is an amazing way to create a stream of an event for any hot topic. It can also be used as a promotional tool for new website launch and for promoting a new product or starting your own news topic.
