How to access free online video tutorials on technology
I depend on how to manuals for almost anything, right from cooking my favorite 'Biriyani' to creating short videos on my notebook using Windows Movie Maker! I prefer detailed video tutorials to simple PDFs. During my recent trip to Koorg, I created a short video on the rich biodiversity of Koorg on my Samsung NC20. However, I found it difficult to add a voice over in the video. Searching the web for an online tutorial to fix my problem, I discovered Woopid. Check it out here.
Woopid is an online resource for free technology video tutorials. The library in Woopid features the most popular software and hardware video tutorials. You can also learn how to browse popular Internet sites like eBay effectively from the rich collection of Woopid videos.
If you are wondering how to modify a table format in Excel 2007 or you want to create an exception in Windows Firewall on your netbook, you can sign in to your Woopid account to find answers for computer and gadget related questions with thousands of video tutorials for different OS platforms. The best part is that you are not reading a tutorial, but you are viewing a video tutorial.
Enter the name of the application and the keyword associated with the feature of that application to get the correct video tutorial you are looking for. For example, if you want to watch a video tutorial about creating a new style template in Word 2007, enter ‘Word 2007 Style’ in the search box. This will direct you to a new page, displaying a list of video tutorials related to style options in Word 2007. The video tutorials are comprehensive with examples and voice over.
Woopid has various options to make your search easier. If you click ‘View Library’ from the home page, it will direct you to a new page where video tutorials are streamlined according to the topics.
‘Bundles’ in Woopid are collections of 10 or more related videos on a single application. This option makes your search easier if you are trying to explore different features of a single application.
From the ‘Custom Tutorial’, you can request Woopid to create a new tutorial for you if you are not able to find the video tutorial for an application or a topic in Woopid.
Each video in Woopid has ‘Take a step Back’ and ‘Moving Forward’ sections. If you are confused with some aspects in a video, you can click on ‘Take a step Back’ section, which will take you backwards to learn everything you may have missed earlier. If you want more video suggestions about a feature of an application, you can click the ‘Moving Forward’ button.
At the bottom of each video, there are four buttons – ‘Add to Favorites’, ‘Share Tutorial’, ‘Find Resources’ and ‘Social Bookmark’. If you want an updated version of a software you have watched on the video, click on the ‘Find Resources’ button, which displays a box at the bottom with links related to the source of the software. For example, if you are watching a video tutorial for creating a Yahoo account, the ‘Find Resources’ will display a link where you can create a Yahoo account.
Click ‘Add to Favorites’ to save your favorite videos in your Woopid account for future reference. Like most of the cloud applications, Woopid also has an option to share video tutorials with your friends and families.
Woopid is a handy application to learn the ‘ins and outs’ of new or existing applications. Thanks to Woopid, I no longer have to go through the tedious process of checking out the 'help' section for any application.
